24Hour Fitness ignoring locks cut at Q clubsI'm Peter J. Schoenster. When I believe I've received bad customer service I complain. When I went to the police station to report what happened, I discovered I was the 2nd person that day making a report and another officer mentioned that he had taken a report a few days ago. This officer said the complainant actually saw the perpetrator with a bolt cutter and chased the perp through the parking lot but could not catch him. At least 3 times in one week Is this normal? What is the theft rate at 24Hour Fitness? My report was taken at the Q front desk as if I were reporting a cockroach was on the loose. Some body ought to wake up at this place and take some action. I've lived in places where life and property were cheap ... I don't want to live there now. The 24Hour Fitness Q Sports club seems to be taking this in a very blase fashion. My wallet stolen at 24Hour Fitness Q Sports clubMy wallet was stolen from my locker at the Q Sports Club (owned by 24Hour Fitness). The lock was cut. This happened some time between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on June 02, 2001. I reported my missing wallet to the front desk. Boy ... they could hardly be bothered. I had to pry the closest police station out of them and when I asked for a business card to get the address they just said they didn't have one and I had to push to get them to help me have the address of the place. I need not have bothered. I called credit card companies and my bank. The thieves were already ringing up charges. I will contact credit card bureaus, state of Colorado (I just moved to Tennessee), closed my bank account in Colorado (just to be on the safe side) and see what else I have to do. When I informed the officer at the desk about the theft of my wallet at 24Hour Fitness Q Sports clubs she asked me if I had just called. I said no I had not. Seems they got someone else that day. Then another officer asked if we were talking about the Q. He said he had taken a complaint earlier that week. Wow. Incredible. The customer of the Q chased the guy (who had a bolt cutter) through the parking lot but could not catch him. Incredible. |

Read the story: Thefts concern Q patrons; club checking security needs. Got a nice picture of me there:) Media are looking for good stories. After I discovered I was the 3rd that week, it seemed like a pattern. Turns out that the problems reported at the Q were at least double problems happening at other clubs. I sent an email to my local newspaper. They saw it as a story. Don't forget the media. The Q (24 Hour Fitness) began to require photo id, although that is slipping. They spent some money telling people not to leave valuables anywhere in the club. I guess they expect us to leave them in our castles. Don't leave them in your cars. Asking people not to bring valuables to the club is just unrealistic. I consider my driver's license valuable. Should I walk to the club now? They should have some system to monitor thefts. They should keep members informed. They should not have people wielding bolt cutters in their locker rooms. Incredible. And their enlightened, intelligent response is to recommend that members not bring valuables to the club. Oh well. |
